I Am Not That Woman

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
 - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Can we talk about all the perfect women out there? You know who I mean.

They are on Facebook talking about their made-from-scratch meals served to their children while wearing handmade clothes, after a full day of homeschooling in their spotless homes.

They are on Pinterest pinning all the amazing DIY crafts that they create while they decorate their children's birthday cakes in ways that the local bakery can only dream of.

They are at school delivering the perfectly healthy snack while wearing the latest from Talbots on their size 2 body with perfectly styled hair.

I am not that woman.

I can cook from scratch, but most nights we're so busy that I’m happy if something that looks like food and isn’t completely full of junk gets put in front of my family.

I am not cut out to homeschool – I gladly send my children to school on a bus every day.

I don’t do crafts – not by myself and not very often with my kids. I do like to decorate cakes though. It’s a fun stress-release hobby for me.

I don’t deliver healthy snacks to school. I send cookies. In packages from the store with elves on it.

I’m a size 14 on a good day, and my favorite hairstyle is a ponytail.

I am not that perfect woman. That fact used to make me feel very inadequate. Until I realized that I was not created to be that woman. I was created to be me.And I'm ok with that.

I promise to go into this idea of being the you that you were made to be. But for now, think about who you are and who you are not. Positives and negatives.

Until next time, here is my favorite Bible verse:

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Wonderful are your works;my soul knows it very well.
- Psalm 139:14 (ESV)
